thx | Scott, have it (windshield chip) fixed by a professional from the auto glass repair company. I had two spider type stone chips on the windshield in the first 3 months and after fixing, it was almost invisible unless you know where it is and look real close at it.
Mine was covered by the corp. that did the windshield coating (Diamond Fusion), supposedly to lessen the chance of stone chips, i.e., requires a stronger force to do it, but it happened nonetheless.
I also have Allstate Auto insurance. Minor windshield repair is covered without a deductible. They usually subcontract with the auto glass repair shops. They are mobile and they come to your place. Give your auto insurance agent a call.
The clear resin they use is better than the ones at auto supply store and the vacuum they use removes the air more effectively to make the repair less observable.
