I have a PhD in microbiology/molecular biology and work at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I lead a group of molecular biologists in the study of sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and syphillis. A majority of our work is developing molecular methods of detecting antimicrobial resistance.
My wife also works at CDC in the foodborn diseases group. She has a PhD and a DVM. If you get sick eating bad sprouts her group tries to ID the cause. |
