"SAM" is a special security Option 4 from Mercedes-Benz. A fearless dog that sits in your trunk. when someone messes with your SLK, the pooch paws the green "trunk release" button on the inside and gives a warning bark followed by a bit. (chain runs long enough to reach all around the SLK) Feeding bowl with Benz logo extra...

SAM is located in the trunk, vertical up against the middle section. Behind all the carpeting. It houses a large fuse block, phone - navi - and a a few other modules. Rear lighting such as tail lights plugs in there and from there connects to the CAN BUS.

Dan, i think it may have been harder to run a line from the rear forward than from the front fuse box under the hood back. I Remember how i was routing the wiring with you through all that foam, and the royal pain it was to find an opening for you...

Front fuse box is a direct drop through the firewall. and plenty of room in there as well. I have an 6 gage wire (for the amp i installed for 24hrs) along with front cam, front star light, and puddle lights going through there all with a handy coat hanger!

Editor58, totally understand what you mean about the module up there. wire tucked and velcro cleaned will look just as perfect. Regardless... ur "front" and "behind" is now Laser sheilded... which is the most important thing.
