So what I gather is that on the r171:

R170 antenna:
15 ft more than SL antenna and much better radio reception.
5 inches long

SL Antenna:
15 ft less than R170 antenna. Radio reception a worse than r170 antenna. Only 2.5 inches long and color coded with car. Much nicer IMHO...
