Yeah, my son has done A LOT of work to his Honda motor. We were driving side by side about 40mph and out of nowhere he dropped down a gear and pulled away from me. Well, I had to show him who was boss.
I passed him pretty quickly but I'm not sure if that counts as actually racing. I let off once past him. He was bummed out.
lesson learned...There is always someone faster than you no matter how much time and work put into your car.
I think he thought his car was unbeatable. Maybe he won't be so eager to race others now.
