I've read many good reports on the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 - supposed to be particularly good in the wet, while still been very good in the dry. I would have went with these myself, but wanted something with even more dry grip.

Here's a good post from another site with a breakdown by category based on real world testing by Tirerack:

Quote:
We have broken down tires into several catagories and here is a short list of what I have experienced in our testing. Now remember, we do not have every single tire line in the world so, if your particular favorite is not in this list it is probably because we haven't tested it. Also, this is my take on the testing that I have completed here at The Tire Rack on our test track.

Extreme Performance:
You want extreme dry street performance and are willing to trade some comfort and hydroplaning resistance to get it.

Not intended to be driven in snow or on ice, or at high speeds in deep standing water, these specially tuned tires combine big-block tread designs with aggressive tread compounds and reinforced internal constructions to emphasize dry road response, traction, handling and high speed capabilities for serious driving enthusiasts.

1.) Potenza RE01R
2.) Advan Neova AD07
3.) P-Zero
4.) Ecsta MX
5.) G-Force KD

Maximum Performance:
These are great performing tires which offer great steering response and wet/dry traction (not for use inthe snow!!!).

1.)Eagle F1 GS-D3
2.)Potenza RE050A Pole Position
3.)Pilot Sport PS2
4.)Advan Sport
5.)SP Sport Maxx

Ultra High Performance:
A step down form the Max tires but, still exceptional performance which fits most application for a street tire that can be driven very aggressivley.

1.) G-Force KDW2
2.) Firehawk Wide Oval
3.) Pilot Exalto PE2
4.) Potenza RE750
5.) G-Force Sport

Ultra High Performance All Season:

Performance tires which are capable of going through the snow.

1.) Potenza RE960 Pole Position
2.) Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
3.) P-Zero Nero M&S
4.) Advan S4
5.) Dunlop Sport 5000
6.) Continental Extreme Contact
7.) BFG G-Force KDWS
8.) Tech M550

Budget Performance Tires:

Summer performance with a cost effective tire when your budget is a concern. (based on performance not cost)

1.) Kumho Ecsta SPT
2.) General Exclaim UHP
3.) Avon Tech M500
4.) Dunlop Direzza DZ101
5.) AVS ES100
6.) Fuzion ZRi
7.) Sumitomo HTR Z II
