Seems very odd, because it can only be a trivial software function where all the necessary hardware components to make it work are already in place. The benefits of removing it would appear to be non-existent since there is no cost saving involved, and it's hardly a safety issue.
While I love my car, this kind of thing is something I really don't like about Mercedes-Benz as a company. They sometimes seem to have little regard for their customers opinions, always thinking they know better, or can dictate to the customer without any consequence. This is one example, another would be the insistence on displaying km/h in the instrument cluster lower display in the UK, even though there is no legal basis for such a decision. What they don't seem to realise is some issues that they perceive as unimportant and minor do actually have significance to their customers. |
