These weights show me that the only way to get a 19 inch wheel /tyre combo to weigh less than the standard 18 inch AMG III or V (not 030 package) wheel/tyre set up is to go to the expensive ultralights from Carlsson/HRE COMP.
Assuming the weights for HRE I quoted earlier and the guesstimate of 19 inch tyre weight I reckon it might be possible to shave a total of 1.5 -2.0 kg a corner.
(I read here in Germany - Sport Auto Tune up SLK55 Std to SLK55 Black- that AMG claim the 19 inch Black Series Ultralights save 1.5kg a corner over the STD 18 inchers)
Assuming unsprung weight `counts double´ this means 12-16kg `real weight´.
Not much but you do have the potential handling as well as aesthetic advantages of lightweight 19 inchers to consider.
(I have to try and justify it somehow!!!!) |
