Oh, I remember another flat tire story. In 1972, we picked up our first vehicle, a VW camper in Germany. Ended up putting about 12,000 miles on in Europe (100,000+ when we sold the van). The van had Continental tires. 4 out of the original 5 tires all failed with sidewall blowouts. Each was replaced with a new Continental and I never had problems with the new ones. Must have had a bad batch.

One of the flats happened as we were driving in the alps. LUCKILY, it happened just before a little level, wide spot in the road otherwise I'm not sure how we would have gotten that changed.
