I can't explain why it works that way, but it's the same on my SLK 55 with factory/dealer Bluetooth system. One note, I installed the aftermarket Parrot Bluetooth system on my wife's SLK 350, and that Bluetooth system also remains active for a few minutes after the ignition is cut off.
