Michelin PS2's are great tires, but pricey. I got Goodyear F1-DSG3's recently. Very happy with them. They're cheaper than the PS2's by a good margin, highly rated, almost as highly as the PS2's and they're good in the rain.

But, both of these tires are summer tires. Great performance, but without knowing your location, they may not be the right type of tire for you. If you live in a colder climate, where it's cold for a lot of the year, summer tires aren't for you. They're not recommended for near freezing temps. Also, if you use your car year round, live where it's colder and won't use a winter set-up then I would get an all-season tire. You'll lose some performance, but gain all year round use and maybe longer life.

IMO, now is a great time to up-size your rims. If you live in the U.S., then you probably have 16" wheels. It's the only thing I really don't like about the 280. Look a little small for the wheel well. 17" or 18" would look great. 19" is what I have and I think they're perfect, but you would really need to lower the car with new springs to make 19" look right. If you like the 350's 17" wheels, you probably could find a set cheap on one of the SLK forums from someone who has upgraded. Aftermarket wheels really depends on your budget.
