Congrats!, by the way. | Thanks for the welcome... Yes I guess this does give me a unique perspective on the various SLK models . To answer your questions both the 230 SE and the 280 were autos a must because I commuted through Baltimore, Wash DC and No. Virginia rush hour traffic . Oh my there were many reason why I liked the SLK55 over the SLK280 but the most obvious are the power, handling and looks. But these things come at a price, the first being fuel mileage 28-30 vs. 15-18. Then the ride, the SLK280 actually rides smoother but does not handle or corner as well. And last but not least is going to be the tire wear will be lucky to get 15k miles from the SLK55 tires (as it was with my SLK230 SE) from the looks of them the SLK280 might see 30+ K.
