My next car is a 930 Turbo, back to the air-cooled, hard to handle real Porsche for me. Lots of overstear, what I relish. Will be stripped down and full race prep, the SLK350 is my daily driver, the 930 will be a full on race car.
Since my SCCA number is 53, I may actually paint it silver and do the whole thing up like Herbie.
Yeah, the 997 is nice, I almost bought a Carrera S, but there is just something so sterile about it. The SLK's sterility is off set by the fact it is actually comfortable to be in, and cruises slowly quite nicely, so it plays the part of luxury coupe in addition to sports car.
The GT2 would be better as it is the rear drive only one, right?
Of course it would be nice to get a full race SLK, but the price / performance ratio doesn't make sense. Large entry price to then rip out all the weight, sound deadening, motors, etc.
The family truckster LS430 will probably replaced by the new Lexus LS470 Hybrid (or whatever name they have on it now.) The S-Class looks nice, but we just can't live with another Mercedes to break down and put us in logistical hell all the time.
Sideways isn't the fastest way around the track.... But it sure is the most fun!
