Oh, I just thought of another story that might make you feel better. My first car that I actually bought myself was a 1972 VW camper picked on the way back home from Africa. Drove around Europe for 3 months until my wife and I had $75 dollars left to our name and then shipped it home.

So this VW came with Continental tires. Over the life of the car 4 out of 5 of the original tires all failed with side-wall blowouts. The replacement Continentals never gave any problem. It looks like there may have been a faulty bunch of tires.

So the first one that blew out was in the Bavarian Alps! LUCKILY it happened right near a relatively flat area with a slightly wide area where I could pull off and change the tire. Man it could have happened in some really bad places before that. Edge of mountain and all that...

So does that make your experience seem not so bad
