Yes you steer with left or right hand. Sounds strange. But the aircraft are also mounted to the side. It seems with the obvious invention of fly-by-wire we still think the physical energy is required to control a vehicle. having a wheel or stick between your legs gives you the best position to use all your physical energy to keep things in control. Using the joysticks sways this outdated technology and enables you to feel more relaxed. I guess controlling an a380 with 800 passangers onboard with a slight flick of the wrist is a bit of a mind bender.
