I will try to find a specialist technician to see if he can help. Otherwise it's a trip to MB with some sorry excuse (whimper).

Will check out what's the problem with the memory on the seats as well. I don't think I dislodged anything but may have weakened connections maybe. Better sort this out or get MB/technician to sort it out as it looks like I'm due a visit.

The wire I crimped is definitely a solid red one and the only one I could find in a harness with other wires. But the instructions on Mods4Cars showed I could get to this without undoing the blue plastic tab which is connected to the light switch and is screwed onto the side of the dashboard. This would have not been possible on my car. So I am a little confused. Anyway, I have loads of links to read and maybe the answer lies within. I'm away on business so cannot spend the time right now.

To my eyes the red wire looks orange to me
